You are ALL my motivation!

Updated: Apr 15, 2021

I am BLOWN AWAY by the messages and comment i have received over the past four days about the video i posted on Friday - Do you want to be a young carer? In case you missed it here ya go...

I saw this trend on Tic Tok where people become teen moms and post their pregnancy and the kid(s) growing up, a lot of the videos were hitting back at people who were coming at the young girls in a negative way and how they rose to the challenge and love their kid. I thought hell i could do that about daddy. I may have given up a lot over the years looking after dad, but i wouldn't change it for the world. If anything, if i could do it again, i would probably want to do more or try harder. I never would have imagined that this video would have 2.3k views on Facebook... According to Facebook, it has reached 5,158 people. WHAT!! So, today i wanted to share a post about motivation, and how it is more important than ever to stay motivated and positive, we need to stay positive and keep going through this difficult time. You guys, comment on my posts, slide into my DM's and constantly reach out. These messages and comments are constantly thanking me, telling me how much you love my blog and sending me love and prayers. I honestly don't know what i have done to deserve all this love, i sit at a computer and type up my life, i share pictures and try to be my most positive self. Believe me, im not a happy little leprechaun all the time, i can lose my shit too! Maybe next time i do, ill video it, trust me you'll get a right laugh at it!! All my OG followers know that i started #Imnotdrunk because dad was humiliated one day, honestly, i don't think he actually realised what was happening thank god, but it did happen. I decided the world needed to be educated more on what it was like to be a young carer, and along with that educate them on Huntington's Disease. Just because someone makes a nasty thoughtless comment does not mean they are narrow-minded or a prick, it just means they are uneducated on the topic. That's okay, did you know what Huntington's Disease was before it entered your life? Don't lose your shite, take the time and explain, take the time and tell them what it is, give them a website where they can find out more if they would like to. Educate people about Huntington's Disease instead of causing yourself upset and heartache! NOW... If they are still being a little twat! Then feel free to f&%^K them right off, i know i have sometimes.!!

There are those who will listen to you, 9/10 apologise for pre-judging either you or your loved one and thank you for being honest with them and taking the time to explain. Sadly there will be people who will still throw their nose in the air and walk off, simply because you have mortified/ humiliated them for their lack of knowledge! I have heard of people not believing Huntington's is a disease but that's a whole other story. 𝕊𝕥𝕠𝕣𝕪 𝕋𝕚𝕞𝕖 - Let's say Mary organised a fundraiser, and John came up to her and said that HD wasn't a thing, and asked her to explain it. So Mary did this, explained Huntington's Disease and that her family members were affected by it and have even passed from it. Well... John still didn't believe it and thought it was all a lie and badgered poor Mary. John needs to be straightened out!! Anyway, back to the point of this post, my wonderful family, friends, HD community and strangers i have never met but feel like we have known for years. 𝒯𝐻𝒜𝒩𝒦 𝒴𝒪𝒰... Because of you, i have the strength and motivation to keep going, this year will be #Imnotdrunk's 5th birthday, i can't believe how much it has grown, but at the same time it's still small enough for me to manage. This blog is not about getting the likes and shares and getting my name out there, to be honest when i was in America attending the HDSA Convention in the of summer 2019, i was so overwhelmed that people knew who i was or knew my blog when they heard the name or saw my T-Shirt. -I spent a solid hour crying on the phone to my mum! Why i have no idea!! I was so overwhelmed the amount of people who read my blog. Im not someone who boasts about the number of followers i have, and it's not because i don't appreciate every single one, it's just simply not my nature. I would be so afraid of someone thinking 'who does she think she is?'... Soooo... As we continue to battle through covid and the restrictions in place, let's just take a step back and look at all we have come through. There are very few people in the world i feel, can say they haven't had a difficult time at some point in their life. We should compare who had the hardest time because we all handle situations differently but we should all support one another and help one another through the difficult times, no matter how big or small they might be to you, they could be massive to another person! We're so confident that tomorrow is waiting for us, the same as today. In reality, you don’t even know if you’re going to wake up! My life got flipped upside down when i was 14, and several times over the years... What’s that saying, if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plan…

Well… You did wake up this morning, so let us make a change, let's bring happiness into our lives and those around us. No one else is going to do it for you. What made me happy, in my life was when I removed the things and people who were no longer making me happy. I am talking about Instagram and Facebook here people. We have become so obsessed with people on Tic Tok and Instagram and other social media that were no longer living our own life. We now get bullied and do not even know our bully. I watch Instagram stories of girls my age, with husbands, children and their own home and that's awesome! You go girl and chase your dreams, mine are just a little different than what i thought they would be, but they turned into one hell of an adventure! You break away from that negativity, and you have no idea the impact it will make. You watch 15 seconds of someone’s life on social media and you think you have them all figured out. You think they have a perfect life. Everyone struggles, no one is immune to it. I struggle, although I am sure my social media makes it look like I do not. Many people in this world do not believe in you and will try to shoot you down, but they can’t, no one can if you don’t let him. While you're worried about people believing in you, why don't you just focus on believing in yourself? Lots of Love Ash
